Incumbent Mayor of Los Angeles since December 2022, the first woman and second Black mayor in the city's history. She previously served as U.S. Representative for California's 37th District (2011–2022) and as Speaker of the California State Assembly, where she was the first Black woman to lead a state legislative chamber in U.S. history. Before elected office she founded the Community Coalition, a South Los Angeles social-justice nonprofit. She is seeking a second term on a record centered on homelessness, public safety, and Palisades wildfire recovery.
Reality-television personality known for MTV's "The Hills" who became a vocal advocate for Palisades wildfire victims after his own home was destroyed in the January 2025 fire. He sued the City of Los Angeles and the Department of Water and Power over the fire response and announced his mayoral campaign on January 7, 2026, the one-year anniversary of the blaze. Running as an outsider sharply critical of City Hall's emergency management, he polled second in a May 2026 Emerson College survey, ahead of Councilmember Nithya Raman. Thrive LA endorses him jointly with Mayor Bass to keep the strongest non-DSA options advancing through the primary.
Los Angeles City Councilmember for District 4 since 2020, re-elected in 2024, and an urban planner by training. She was twice elected with backing from the local chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America and entered the 2026 mayoral race in February. She is one of the leading challengers to Mayor Bass, drawing significant funding from the entertainment industry. Thrive LA explicitly campaigns to block her from advancing to the November general election.
