Incumbent Sheriff of Los Angeles County since December 2022, leading the largest sheriff's department in the United States. He served more than 36 years with the Long Beach Police Department, rising to Chief of Police from 2014 to 2021. He was elected on a reform platform emphasizing accountability, deputy-gang eradication, and rebuilding trust with the Board of Supervisors and oversight bodies. He is running for a second term.
