Thien Ho
Democrat
Sacramento County District Attorney since January 2023, the first Vietnamese American elected to the office. His family fled Vietnam in 1976, spent time in a Malaysian refugee camp, and resettled in San Francisco; he earned a political-science degree from UC Davis in 1995 and a law degree from McGeorge School of Law. Over a 25-year prosecutorial career he tried sexual-assault, gang, and homicide cases and served as the lead prosecutor who won the conviction of the Golden State Killer, Joseph DeAngelo, later writing a 2025 memoir about the case. A Democrat, he is running in California's 6th Congressional District on a public-safety and rule-of-law platform.
